- Receiving - Receiving help, compliments, gifts that you get from him
- Gratitude - Being grateful for the way he does things (instead of wishing he would do things your way); and saying Thank You!
- Vulnerability - Let go of the outcomes and just enjoy the marriage, letting him take you where he wants to, let him help you when he wants to.
- Relinquishing Control - esp. the finances
- Respect - mind your manners - and when you slip up - apologise! Herein lies the concept of using duct tape to keep your mouth from uttering the unmentionable, and later eating worms and berating yourself for being so nasty!
I loved the part in the book where Laura Doyle explains that we should treat our husbands with as much respect and gentleness that we treat our best friends with, taking care we don't hurt their feelings when we speak to them.
