Gestalt - To Complete the Past & Move On

The Gestalt Centre - Therapy & Counselling

Gestalt is a German word, which is difficult to translate, but in concept, means whole or complete.

We regard the individual as a totality of mind, body, emotions and spirit who experiences reality in a way unique to themselves.

In therapy and counselling we seek to resolve internal conflict thus releasing energy to flow into richer contact with self and others.

Quality and richness of life are enhanced as the person lives authentically, embracing the full range of human experience.

In gestalt therapy we are interested in:

  • The organism-as-a-whole, or unity of mind, body, emotions and spirit
  • The nature of the relationship between a person and his or her world
  • Working with internal conflict and resolving unfinished business
  • Recognising the unique reality which each person experiences
Most people experience points in their lives when they need the intervention of a trained person to help them understand themselves and take the first steps in improving their quality of life.

The experience of discomfort, of all not being well, may be felt as a sudden crisis or as a chronic on-going level of depression.

The shifts and changes required may be slight or far-reaching. And most of us can, with insight and support, effect change, which opens up new directions and a renewed sense of Life as exciting and magical.

Low Cost Therapy

The low cost therapy scheme is part of the PPD Training programme. Our aim is to provide individual therapy at a cost appropriate to those on low incomes.

Trainees who enter the Psychotherapy Practitioner Diploma Training have completed the three year Post Graduate Diploma at the Gestalt Centre. This involves both an intensive programme of personal growth work and practice of the Gestalt method with their peers, at work or on placement.

Only those trainees who show considerable aptitude and ability work with clients, under supervision of Gestalt Centre staff.

To refer yourself to a low-cost therapist, please contact Centre Manager, Jacqueline Wearn at jacqueline@gestaltcentre.co.uk or (020) 7613 4480
